FLAVIIR Demonstrator 1

The Integrated Electric Demonstrator is a tailless, swept wing aircraft based on the Boeing X-45A planform.

Though technically the third test craft to be produced by the FLAVIIR team this aircraft is the first to be designed and manufactured from start to finish by the ten partner Universities. The IED follows the CC (Circulation Control) and FTV (Fluid Thrust Vectoring) demonstrators, both based on commercially available model aircraft.

The demonstrator draws together previously demonstrated CC and FTV technologies in a single air vehicle to produce an integrated flow control system allowing flight control without any form of conventional aerodynamic control surfaces.

The aircraft is controlled either remotely via data link or by the on board autopilot.
